When you put your phone in a bowl of rice do you cook the rice first?

my phone got wet yesteray during a rainstorm because i put it on a chair while i was doing something and when i came back it was in a puddle and now it turns on and everything but the screen stays black anyways do i cook the rice or just empty the rice into a bowl
