My pontiac grand AM year '95 won't start after going through a puddle after it rained a lot? why?

I have a pontiac grand AM year 1995, with a quad 4 engine, last night it was down pouring and I didn't relize how flooded the streets were, well let's just say the road had at least 2 feet of water from where I went through with my car, anyways, I did not relize how high the water was till I tried driving through it, and my car died, I then had it towed to my designation; I let it sit, but it still won't start, I tried jumping it to see if it was the battery, and it was not. I let it sit and charge for 10 minutes, but nothing, it still cranks over; but won't quite start, the battery isn't dead because my radio, lights, and everything still work, it just won't start? any ideas?
