The typical instruments for a bluegrass band tended to be; mandolin, banjo, guitar, string bass, and just about any other string instrument you could pick. A singer songwriter, Snuffy Jenkins, played a homemade banjo that he and his brother built. He developed a new form of picking a banjo, later called “Three finger roll”. A majority of the bands had homemade instruments.
