What is gonna happen to me if i ask a guy out?

i really like this guy. he likes me. we r great friends! he started flirting with me at the winter dance..... by hurting me lol..... but..... he wants to ask me out but he is to scared. (so the boys im really close to say) and i know he does and i do too.... but im seriously shy.......what do i do??? please help me!!! I'm ready to burst out and just say I LOVE GARETH JENKINS in front of everybody!!!!!! ughhhh im so frusterated and confused!! please help!!
