EARTHWORM HELP PLEASE :D?

Ok somy mom waas power washing the windows and i found a earthwarm in a puddle and i picked him up and he was covered in GUE :() and he was gross likeit was on him >:O but my question is did the earth warm do this as self defence or did he just produce goo or was it not even him :)
